“necessary” expropriations in Florange?

A new step has just been taken within the framework of the development project of the A31bis and in particular of its northern part, which provides for the creation of a bypass bar west of Thionville. The third route proposed by the City of Florange in January 2021, which is in addition to the two others already in the running, has been retained by the State. Impact studies will begin this spring.

This route provides for the creation of a deep and short tunnel under Florange, with an exit on the wasteland of the ArcelorMittal coking plant, which closed in 2020. This spindle, called F5, had already been studied by Dreal in 2016- 2017, but the obstacles were too numerous to lend it a future.

If these new studies do not predict the final choice of route, the Prefecture specifies that the creation of a tunnel “would require land and real estate acquisitions”. About fifteen expropriations would be considered. Information disputed by the mayor of Florange Rémy Dick, who is preparing his counter-offensive. In ten days or so, he will unveil the details of a study commissioned by the City, which rules out any risk of expropriation in the event of the construction of a deep tunnel.
