Nearly 1 million cigarettes attempted smuggled across the border

The seizures were made between 20 and 30 May. The two largest happened on May 20 when two goods taxis with 801,000 cigarettes were found, writes VG.

– These two seizures together constitute the fifth largest seizure in all of Norway in 2020 and 2021, says Kjersti Bråthen in the Customs.

The cigarettes were hidden in legal items such as sofas, a water heater and the like.

According to the customs service, the smuggling amounts to a tax evasion of NOK 3.2 million.
