NCIS: an actress from the series joins NCIS Los Angeles … in a different role

Comedienne Scottie Thompson, well known to fans of “NCIS: Special Investigations” for playing Jeanne Benoit, DiNozzo’s girlfriend, will soon appear in an episode of “NCIS Los Angeles” as another character.

Wouldn’t the universes of NCIS: Special Investigations and its spin-off NCIS Los Angeles be as connected as we thought? Present in 18 episodes of the mother series between 2006 and 2016 in the role of Jeanne Benoit, who notably lived a love affair with DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), the actress Scottie Thompson will soon return to the NCIS franchise by joining NCIS Los Angeles for one episode … in the skin of another character.

According to the American site TVLine, Scottie Thompson will play a certain Sarah Raines in an episode of season 11 which will be broadcast in the spring on CBS. Raines is introduced as a DIA agent who is investigating a case involving unidentified flying objects and ends up crossing paths with Callen, Hanna, and the rest of the team when his boss goes missing under mysterious conditions. Mainly known to fans of the detective series worn by Mark Harmon, Thompson has also appeared in several episodes of Blacklist, Grey’s Anatomy, and 12 Monkeys.

This is not the first time that an actor or actress has appeared in multiple series in the NCIS franchise in different roles. Scott Grimes (ER, The Orville) notably appeared in an episode of NCIS in 2011 as Inspector Danny Price before starring in three episodes of the spin-off led by LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell between 2013 and 2017 in which he played a special agent named Dave Flynn. Michael Nouri (Newport Beach) and Liza Lapira first played a character in NCIS before playing another a few years later in the spin-off in New Orleans. And the list is quite long.
