NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 receive 20 Lone Star Emmy Awards

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Lone Star affiliate awarded NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 a total of 20 Lone Star Emmy® Awards, in various categories, during its 20th Annual Awards Gala on Saturday, November 12. .

This year’s awards included “General Excellence” and “Investigative Reporting” for NBC 5, “Noticiero Vespertino” and “Noticiero Matutino/Diurno” for Telemundo 39, and awards to both stations for their coverage of the Uvalde school shooting . Texas Today, NBC 5’s local lifestyle program, also won three Lone Star Emmy® Awards.

“Receiving an ‘Overall Excellence’ award validates the teamwork we strive for every day, to always give our best. “Paper Tag Nation,” NBC 5 Investigates’ ongoing report on how criminal gangs compromised the state’s temporary tag system and led to major security improvements at the Texas DMV, got an “Investigative Report” from NBC 5 at the Lone Star Emmy®.

Telemundo received 39 Lone Star Emmy® Awards “Continuous Coverage” for “Masacre a la innocencia”, tracking and coverage of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and the weeks afterward.

“It takes a passionate and comprehensive team of reporters, reporters, photographers, producers, editors and technical directors to produce every newscast,” said Manuel Moreno, deputy news director for Telemundo 39. “Knowing you have a strong team that can be counted on yes and understanding the delicacy of news delivery is vital, especially when dealing with a developing story like the tragedy of Uvaldi.
