NBA: Chris Paul lifts Phoenix Suns to number one in the west

Chris Paul led the Phoenix Suns to victory in a Denver Nuggets thriller. The Los Angeles Lakers keep their cool in a tight game in San Antonio thanks to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Boston Celtics embarrass themselves in Detroit and Golden State has no chance against Portland (the highlights of the Portland vs. Golden State game in the video!).

The Boston Celtics show an alarming performance at the Detroit Pistons. The Brooklyn Nets are also weak and have no chance against Atlanta.

Charlotte Hornets (2-3) – Memphis Grizzlies (2-3) 93:108

  • The Grizzlies made amends after the gossip in Boston and won a safe victory in Charlotte. Six players scored double digits, the top scorer was in the absence of the injured Ja Morant (ankle) Dillon Brooks with 21 points in five converted three-pointers.
  • Overall, the Grizzlies were missing seven players, so coach Taylor Jenkins could only fall back on nine players. Memphis made a strong game after the break and increased the lead to 24 points. Kyle Anderson (18, 11 rebounds) and Jonas Valanciunas (14 and 10) recorded double doubles, Tyus Jones played 12 assists as Morant’s replacement.
  • At the Hornets, the again good performance of number 3-Pick LaMelo Ball (15, 6/14 FG, 6 assists) gave courage, the point guard also provided one or the other highlight. The hosts’ top scorer was Bismack Biyombo (16, 12 rebounds), but the center should be penalized if he ever wants to try another three. Even the commentators couldn’t believe it.
  • Gordon Hayward got 14 points (5/13 FG), while the backcourt consisting of Terry Rozier (6, 1/11 FG) and Devonte ‘Graham (3, 1/10 FG) completely disappointed. Coach James Borrego did not rule out the possibility that Ball could start in the near future after the game.
