The Los Angeles Lakers are on tour in the Eastern Conference and have managed to string together a three-game winning streak for the first time this season. The big guy responsible for this strip (looking forward to visiting Cleveland, Toronto, Philadelphia and Detroit) is Anthony Davis. The forward became the fifth player this season to score 50 or more points last night. His performance to overthrow the Wizards was monstrous: 55 points (22/30 on field goals, 2/3 of them on triples), 17 rebounds and 3 blocks.
The Lakers accumulate eight victories in their last ten games and Davis is the great culprit. The power forward played nine of those ten-and-halfs 35.3 points -above Luka Doncic who is the league’s top scorer- and 15.5 rebounds. Davis is the fifth player to reach the top 50 points this season after Joel Embiid (59), Devin Booker (51), Darius Garland (51) and Stephen Curry (50). The Lakers, after a disastrous start to the road, are approaching the playoffs in the West with 10 wins and 12 losses.
A month and a half from the start of the competition and with more than a quarter of the season played, Willy Hernangómez is finally enjoying the minutes with the New Orleans Pelicans, who are already the second best team in the Western Conference, behind only the Suns, with 15 wins and eight losses.. In the last five games with four wins for the team, the Madrid center has only come up empty against Spurs. In the other four games he averaged 15 minutes on the field with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Willy has once again demonstrated that when he’s on the field, there are few centers that produce like him.
The Grizzlies continue to add wins in the West with Ja Morant fighting for the MVP (33 points and 10 assists) and the usual texture of the Santi Aldama. The canary once again played one of those games in which he does everything (5 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks in 18 minutes).
And what happens to the Spurs by Gregg Popovich? The most regular team in the league for the past 30 years has sunk to the depths of the West. rack up eleven defeats in a row. The last one came against the Suns, the leader of the Conference.
