This means that users will be able to see each other in real time. This should greatly reduce the risk of scams regarding the person behind the account in question. Admittedly, this system can not guarantee 100% the end of problems like this but if a person refuses a quick video call before meeting you in real life, then you can see there the sign that something is wrong.
Additional safety measure and appreciable tool in this pandemic period
On a purely social aspect, the integration of this new functionality directly into Tinder is also completely understandable. Some users may not be comfortable disclosing information about themselves to a third-party service, much preferring to keep all communications in Tinder. According to a Match Group press release, the functionality should be rolled out during the second quarter of 2020. In other words, it should not be too soon. You should be able to take advantage of it in the weeks or months to come. With the social distancing measures currently in place, this is a very good idea.
