HC Davos announced the arrival next summer of Robert Mayer, shortly after Niklas Schlegel left Bern to join Lugano.
Robert Mayer (30) signed a four-year contract with the club with 31 Swiss champion titles. The native of Havirov in the Czech Republic has been evolving since 2014 with Genève-Servette, after having attempted the adventure in North America. Hired in 2009 by the Montreal Canadiens organization, he never played in the NHL.
A former Kloten Flyers player, the Swiss international was coming to the end of the contract at Genève-Servette. He played 225 National League games with the Vernets club, according to the Davos press release. This season, he posted statistics of 2.61 goals conceded per game and 91% of league stoppages.
“We may not have the opportunity to hire a goalkeeper of this stature in a year or two.
