National intensive care staff ‘back to normal level’ | NOW

The number of Dutch corona patients in intensive care fell to 507 on Sunday. That is 34 fewer than on Saturday, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

“With this decrease, the national IC occupation is now at normal level,” says chairman Ernst Kuipers of the National Network Acute Care.

There are now 418 non-corona patients in intensive care, 32 less than on Saturday. In total, there are therefore 925 patients on the ICU. That is well within the normal capacity of 1,150 beds.

Of the 507 Dutch corona patients, 15 are in intensive care in Germany. That number has remained the same compared to Saturday.

In percentages, the weekly decrease remains about 20 percent. “If this trend continues, we will have 435 COVID-19 patients on IC at the end of next week,” Kuipers expected Friday.
