MAGELANG, KOMPAS.com – The Central Java Provincial Health Service will hold a National Immunization Sub Week (Sub PIN) polio activity on Monday, January 15 2024.
This activity was in accordance with the direction of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, after one case of a child infected with polio virus was detected in Klaten Regency, recently.
In Magelang City/Regency, there are more than 150,000 children aged 0-7 years who are targets for Sub PIN polio in Magelang City/Regency.
The aim is to protect children from the threat of transmission of the type 2 polio virus, cases of which were found in Klaten Regency, Central Java.

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Magelang District Health Service, Budi Suprastowo, said that the target number for the Polio Sub-PIN was 143,242 children.
“The Sub-PIN (Polio) target determined by the Ministry of Health’s Data and Data Center is 143,242 children,” he explained when contacted by Kompas.com, Wednesday (10/1/2024).
Meanwhile, in Magelang City, the Ministry of Health’s Data and Data Center determined the Polio Sub-PIN target to be 11,746 children.
“11,746 (children) were the initial target (Sub-PIN Polio),” he said when contacted by Kompas.com, Wednesday.
Sub-PIN Polio was held in two rounds. The first round will be on 15-20 January 2024, while the second round will be on 19-24 February 2024.

The vaccine used is Novel Oral Polio Vaccine type 2 (nOPV2), which is given by drip. This is in accordance with the virus that infected the child patient in the case in Klaten, namely polio virus type 2.
The immunization implementation was held at community health centers, posyandu, kindergartens and elementary schools in each region in Magelang City/Regency.
