National Geographic Announces New Series Exploring Pivotal Moments in History and Cultural Heritage

National Geographic revealed a variety of new series, including a trio of titles examining pivotal moments in history, including a World War II project executive produced by Idris Elba.

The Color of Victory: Heroes of World War II (working title) reveals the true stories of black soldiers who were an integral part of four of the biggest battles of World War II. It is produced by Elba’s Green Door Pictures and October Films.

Inside the FBI: The ’70s (working title) exposes the organization’s untapped archive of the most notorious cases from that turbulent decade. Produced by October Films, it features in-depth access to the agents at the center of each case.

Waking the Dead (working title) follows research organization The DNA Doe Project as it uses cutting-edge techniques to uncover the identities of those whose bodies lie unclaimed and forgotten across the country. The series is produced by Wall to Wall.

National Geographic and Antoni Porowski embark on a global adventure in No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowskia new docuseries following Porowski, best-selling author of New York Times and star of Queer Eye from Netflix, on their journey to discover the heritages of global celebrities through the food traditions, techniques and culinary experiences of their ancestors. Produced by Studio Ramsay Global, the show will see Porowski guide celebrities on an unprecedented journey toward cultural and personal discovery.

National Geographic also revealed the names of the seven critically acclaimed photographers who will appear in the upcoming six-part documentary series Photographer by E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. Photographers include fashion photographer Campbell Addy, conservation and ocean photographers Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen, photojournalist Muhammed Muheisen, science photographer Anand Varma, portrait photographer Dan Winters and adventure photographer Krystle Wright. Photographer It will premiere in the winter of 2024.

Nat Geo also revealed the list of narrators for three top-rated natural history shows. Awkwafina (The Little Mermaid, Awkwafina is Nora from Queens) is the narrator of the National Geographic Disney+ original, A Real Bug’s Life; Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Flood, Good Night Oppy) is executive producer and narrator of Queens; y Jeremy Renner (Avengers, Rennervations) has joined Incredible Animal Journeys.
