National Conservatory of Music is celebrating its anniversary

Santo Domingo.- On February 12 of each year, the anniversary of the National Conservatory of Music is celebrated, an institution dedicated to the musical education of Dominican children and youth.

On a day like today, in 1942, by Ordinance No. 59942, the National Conservatory of Music and Declamation was created as an institution of Higher Education of Music.

In this, the vast majority of the outstanding musicians of the Dominican Republic, both instrumentalists, soloists and composers, have received musical training.

Its first conductor was the renowned German conductor and researcher Edward Fendler. The aim of the institution is the training of professional musicians, through a high-quality educational process, supported by humanistic principles and values.

The teachers are in charge of teaching all the symphonic, popular and folk instruments, as well as complementary piano for the students of other instruments, guitar, singing and all the theory of music.

To enter the Institution it is necessary to present an admission test in music reading and in the corresponding instrument, according to an established program, which can be requested at the Conservatory offices.
