sport">It means that national coaches Vincent Wevers and Gerben Wiersma will be back in the room. The four trainers who train gymnasts from the national selection at clubs in the country can also train their pupils again at the central location in Nijmegen.

sport">Wevers and Wiersma had previously been put on hold after the many testimonials about mental and physical abuse in women’s gymnastics. Wevers trains among others Olympic champion Sanne Wevers, just like Lieke Wevers his daughter.

sport">Technical director Mark Meijer indicated that the decision to take up the top sports program centrally was prompted by the express wish of the gymnasts to reconsider the earlier decision. “It is my mission to find a solution for our Olympic athletes while recognizing what has happened in the past. We don’t want their Olympic dream to fall to pieces. They said; let us train with our own trainers. ”
