Nasdaq closes 3 percent higher | Netflix is losing subscribers again

The champagne and wine group Vranken-Pommery Monopole

has had a good first half year. Turnover rose by 17.7 percent to 109.9 million euros. The increase in turnover is mainly due to champagnes (+20.2%). The turnover realized by the wines from Provence and the Camargue fell by 7.5 percent, which is mainly due to the poor harvest in the Camargue in 2021. The sale of other drinks (port and sparkling wines) did well good with 20.6 percent growth.

Vranken mentions a strong increase in sales to customers in France (+20.6%), mainly due to the recovery of out-of-home consumption. In the first half of 2021, a lockdown was in effect for a while and mobility-restricting measures were in place.

Exports also performed well, especially to the Benelux, the US, the UK and Japan. In the first half of the year, exports accounted for 66 percent of the total turnover of Vranken-Pommery Monopole.

The company says it expects a good harvest before 2022, both in terms of quantity and quality. Vranken maintains the expectation that activities will grow at least 5 percent this year. The half-year results are expected on September 8 after the close of trading.
