NASA’s Initial Mission to Send Humans to the Moon Begins Next Year

Telset.id, Jakarta – NASA plans to send man to the moon closer to reality. Through the first mission Artemis 1, NASA will launch a rocket to the Moon in February 2022.

Initially, NASA wanted to launch its first rocket by the end of this year, then send astronauts there in 2024.

However, there were a few obstacles experienced. So that in the end the launch was carried out in February next year. Reported Telset from NDTV On Sunday (10/24/2021), this decision was taken after NASA succeeded in assembling the Orion capsule and the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.

The 98-meter-tall capsule and rocket are already inside the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Florida. After further tests, the rocket will be pushed to the launch pad for the final test in January 2022.

It is hoped that the final test will not have any problems so that the launch can be carried out according to schedule. According to the manager mission Artemis 1, Mike Sarafin, the first launch will take place between February 12 or February 27, 2021.

“The February launch period opens on the 12th and our last chance in February is on the 27th,” said Mike Sarafin.

While the next launch will be in March and April 2022. This launch period depends on orbital mechanics and the position of the Earth relative to its natural satellite.

The postponement of the Artemis 1 schedule does not affect the Artemis 2 and 3 mission schedules. The Artemis 2 mission launches remain on schedule in 2023 and Artemis 3 in 2024.

This means that in 2024, NASA will make history by sending humans back to the Moon with rockets. At this historic moment, NASA gave women and people of color the opportunity to go to the Moon.

The Artemis mission was introduced to the public in 2019, and the mission name is taken from the history of Greek mythology. Artemis is the twin sister of Apollo and Selene, and is known as the goddess of the hunt. (NM/MF)
