Jakarta (Lampost.co) — NASA astronomers have discovered yet another Earth-like planet that may contain water and both orbit the same star.

NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) launched in April 2018 and since then, the mission has found 285 confirmed exoplanets and more than 6,000 candidates. One of the most interesting planets is TOI 700 d, which is about the size of Earth and is located in the habitable zone of its star.

“We saw it for the first time and we were like, Is this for real?” said Emily Gilbert, an astronomer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, quoted from Medcom.id, Friday, January 13, 2023.

The recently discovered Earth-like planet has been dubbed TOI 700 e. It is estimated that TOI 700 e is about 95% the size of Earth and is likely rocky. Researchers are still continuing to research the planet to find out more about its condition.

“We have other observations being made to find out more about this planet. There are no results yet, but interesting things will come,” he continued.
