Narbonne: singer Kiko dies at 42 after collapsing in full concert

The artist, victim of discomfort on July 31, died Wednesday August 12 at the age of 42. A great lover of rock and text songs, he had also recently distinguished himself in several roles for independent regional cinema.

He will have lived his passion for the stage and the music to the end. Kiko was indeed in concert Friday, July 31, when he collapsed in front of his audience. A discomfort that finally won out on Wednesday, August 12, at the age of 42.

Until the end, therefore, this singer, musician and author will have vibrated for this art to which he devoted his life for thirteen years. “I know where I’m going and the path I want to take,” he confided to The Independent in 2013 on the occasion of the release of Sens de Orientation, his third album. This path was of course that of rock, inseparable from its musical universe. But it was also marked out by a beautiful writing: the one who claimed to be as much Brel as Doors was attached to untie the universal theme of love in the course of his life and his human and personal experiences.

Generous and open both in his life and in his songs, thirsty for discovery, Kiko never hesitated to explore new territories. For his last album, released in 2019, he tinted his music not only with pop but also with electro: the opportunity for a great collaboration with DJ Jerry Wallis. But for several years now, Kiko has also tried his hand at the Seventh Art and brought his touch to regional independent cinema, appearing in particular in front of the camera of the Narbonnais Stéphane Kowalczyk, Patrick Milani or even Stephan Petillot.

In short: the general public may not have known Jean-Pierre Goasse, but they were very numerous to recognize the Kiko brand, his style, his music, his smile, his enthusiasm. An intense existence ended much, much too soon, but whose works sown along the way will celebrate its beautiful energy for a long time to come.

Those wishing to say a final farewell to Kiko will be able to do so on Tuesday August 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the Pech Bleu crematorium in Béziers.
