“Now we have a leased data center, where we can no longer fit, and at the same time our lease agreement is ending. Our servers are key to us, we want to have their operation under full control, so we decided to build a second data center, “said Zima.

The construction itself will start next week, with heavy traffic expected next year. “The construction should end in about September, we should start all technologies by the end of the year. We are counting on a test operation in January, and servers will be moving in February, “said the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Sophisticated cooling, up to 3MW
Seznam.cz invests in the construction of a new data center with its own money, amounting to over 200 million crowns. The whole complex will stand on an area of 1200 m2, 200 racks will be placed in two halls (systems for installing servers and other equipment). It is calculated with an input of up to 3MW.

Nagoya will have a very sophisticated cooling system, which also takes into account the use of rainwater. Outdoor air will also be used for cooling, which will of course be filtered and in which the humidity will also be adjusted if necessary. An integral part of the data center will also be diesel generators in a container design with underground diesel tanks, which will ensure operation even in the event of a power failure.

Nagoya will therefore completely replace the capacities that Seznam.cz leased in the Nagano data center from O2. The first Kokura data center, which was opened in 2015 in Horní Počernice, Prague, will also continue to operate. Seznam.cz will also use the leased Osaka data center in Stodůlky, Prague.
