Nagelsmann plans with Musiala as a Müller replacement

Coach Julian Nagelsmann is planning at FC Bayern for the top Bundesliga game at Eintracht Frankfurt with Jamal Musiala as a replacement for Thomas Müller, who has been infected with the corona virus for the second time. “He’s the number one candidate,” said Nagelsmann before the game on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) about national soccer player Musiala, who has also just recovered from a Covid 19 disease.

The 18-year-old “trained outstandingly,” said Nagelsmann. The only question is how long Musiala can hold out. “If he plays from the start, he will reach the point where he gets tired,” said Nagelsmann on Friday. Meanwhile, Müller is doing well. He only had a “minimal cold”. Müller may be able to test himself free on Sunday.

Bayern will still be missing captain Manuel Neuer, Leon Goretzka and Alphonso Davies in Frankfurt, as well as Müller and Corentin Tolisso after a muscle fiber tear from the game against Fürth. Kingsley Coman is available again after a calf injury.

After Tolisso’s absence, Marcel Sabitzer and Marc Roca are options for a place in defensive midfield alongside Joshua Kimmich. Nagelsmann believes that “a key moment” in the form of a goal or an assist could help with the Austrian Sabitzer, who has not been able to convince in Munich so far after moving from Leipzig: “He has a lot more in the tank.”

Bayern want to consolidate their lead in the table in Frankfurt. “We want to avoid a fewer points ahead,” said Nagelsmann. The series champion leads the table six points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who are visiting FC Augsburg on Sunday.
