‘Mysterious’ Hepatitis Haunted, Online Schools Again?[Koran Senin, 9/5/2022] – Lentera Today

A seven-year-old girl in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, has died, presumably due to a ‘mysterious’ acute hepatitis disease of unknown cause. Regarding this, the East Java Provincial Health Office has sent a report (sample) to the Sulianti Saroso Hospital, Jakarta. He emphasized that the case is still in a classification pending status. The Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) assessed that face-to-face learning (PTM) schools may be able to increase cases of acute hepatitis in children. However, there is no official recommendation regarding online schools yet. Children aged 16 years and under are considered the most vulnerable. Most of the suspected viruses are transmitted through the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract. The government also asks the public to be alert and immediately conduct an examination if there are symptoms. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy also ensured that all hospital costs for pediatric patients with symptoms of ichterus (yellow) and hepatitis were covered by BPJS Kesehatan.
