Mutations of Covid-19 do not know the geographic conditions until the seasons

Jakarta: Head of the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology (LBM), Amin Soebandrio, said the mutation of the corona virus (covid-19) do not recognize geographical conditions until the season. This new type of covid-19 can be used in all fields.

“(The covid-19 mutation) occurred in cold England and now it has arrived in Australia in the summer,” said Amin at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Graha, Jakarta, Thursday, December 24, 2020.

Covid-19 mutations have also arrived in Singapore which has similar conditions with Indonesia. Society needs to tighten implementation health protocol 3M, namely wearing a mask, washing hands, and maintaining a distance.

Amin added that this condition must be addressed by the government by increasing the ability to detect covid-19 mutations. In addition, prevention of things that have the potential to become a gap for covid-19 mutations to arrive in the country is needed.

“The point is to be careful, not panic, worry, the presence of the covid-19 mutation is our effort to improve our ability to detect,” said the professor of clinical microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FK UI).

The international community was stirred after British health authorities reported a new variant of the coronavirus. This new variant spread very quickly throughout England.

British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson has imposed Level 4 restrictions for some areas of London and the south-east of England. He asked millions of Britons to celebrate Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021 at their homes.

Most recently, this new covid-19 variant has entered neighboring Indonesia. There are findings of this case in Singapore and Australia.
