Nine imams and board members in Muslim congregations in Oslo come up with a joint vaccine call. They also ask that the rules of the corona be followed during Ramadan.
The representatives of the Muslim congregations represent different communities; Pakistani, Bosnian, Albanian, Kurdish, Moroccan and Arabic speaking. They say Aftenposten that they encourage everyone to take the coronary vaccine.
During Ramadan and the upcoming ID celebration, they also ask Oslo’s Muslims to limit themselves to contact with their immediate family.
The imams and parish leaders tell Aftenposten that they have used every opportunity they have to encourage people in the congregations to follow the infection control rules – whether it is in the mosque, through information campaigns, in social media or in direct conversation with people from the congregation.
– We also try to be good examples by following the infection control rules ourselves, says Basim Ghozlan from the Rabita mosque. He is also a board member of the Islamic League and the Muslim Dialogue Network.
