Musicians demonstrate in Prague against the government

Zaorálek criticized the hastily taken measures in the Moravian-Silesian Region, where the ongoing events were canceled from hour to hour due to the order of hygienists. It is said that a similar situation must not be repeated.

However, after saying that the surrounding states are much more careful in organizing events than the Czechia, he was booed. “That’s bullshit,” came from the crowd.

The promoters of cultural events also spoke at the event. “Government measures are liquidating and the organizers must cancel events that have recently begun to develop,” said promoter Hana Petřinová.

Protest called For Live Music! convened the initiative of the same name. Its representatives are calling on the government to lay down clear rules for the near future by the end of the year, to relax the measures and to allow events for more than a thousand people to take place immediately. Since September, they have been asking permission for events for at least five thousand people in the sector. Zaorálek called it an unrealistic demand.

Now, events can only take place indoors for up to 500 people, and veils are required for events with more than 100 people.

The organizers of the event therefore also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Andreja Babiš (YES). In it, they criticize the fact that they were the first to lose their jobs due to measures against coronavirus. At the same time, they do not like the fact that it is not clear when it will be possible to organize larger music events and under what conditions.

“The government has restricted our freedom of enterprise and the opportunity to work and is not in a position to deal with the situation. Our activities run only fifteen percent, there are no festivals, concerts, musicians have canceled performances, no musical instruments are produced, technical companies have no work, “says the letter.
