Muricy says São Paulo has an agreement with Benítez and details interest in Gabriel Neves | São Paulo

The football coordinator of the São Paulo, Muricy Ramalho, spoke this Tuesday about the negotiations involving Uruguayan Gabriel Neves, Nacional, and Argentinian Benitez, from Vasco. He confirmed that both were at the request of coach Hernán Crespo.

– They are players that you can’t hide, it’s public. Players that Crespo asked for. Neves is a midfielder. Crespo wants a midfielder, a guy who knows how to play, not just a scorer. As he plays with three defenders, the defensive midfielder has to know how to play. Neves is one of them and is under negotiation. It is not easy, because the financial part is always on the way – stated Muricy in live to the channel “Arnaldo e Tirone”.

– Benítez likewise, has a pending in Vasco, a small thing that ends in July. With Benítez, he has the proposal, the agreement, and now it is in his hands. Vasco has a contract until June. He’s asking for release, I don’t know, ”he added.

In the case of Benítez, there is an impasse in relation to values. In January, Vasco paid US $ 250,000 (about R $ 1.4 million) to Independiente to have the midfielder until June 30th.

In the contract, however, it is foreseen that the Argentine club can sell it from March 1st and that, in this case, Vasco could match the offer or keep 15% of the transaction. If you chose to buy it, the amount would be discounted. In other words, it would pay US $ 3.75 million for 60%, in 18 months.

São Paulo would like to have Benítez on loan by the end of this season and is negotiating with the clubs to close the deal.

In the case of Gabriel Neves, São Paulo made a proposal to purchase 50% of the economic rights of the 23-year-old midfielder. The numbers are kept confidential. Tricolor denies having made a new offer or increased the amounts.

So far, São Paulo have hired three players for the 2021 season: striker Bruno Rodrigues (on loan), defender Miranda (one-year and eight-month contract) and right-back Orejuela (contract until March 2024) . The last two were welcomed by coach Hernán Crespo.
