Murder of Taximan in Yoff: Ousseynou Diop receives 15 years of criminal imprisonment

The case of the murder of Taximan Ibrahima Samb was emptied, this Tuesday morning, in the court of flagrante delicto in Dakar. Ousseynou Diop was sentenced to 15 years of criminal imprisonment by the Dakar criminal chamber. He will have to pay damages to the civil party, that is to say a sum of 75 million FCfa: 50 million to the mother of the victim and 25 to his two sisters.

Ousseynou Diop guilty

The sentence fell, Ousseynou Diop found guilty of the murder of taxi driver Ibrahima Samb, was finally sentenced to 15 years of criminal imprisonment. The Chamber did not follow the prosecution of the Advocate General. The latter had asked that the accused be sentenced to 20 years of criminal imprisonment. The Chamber ruled out premeditation.

Damages and interests

Regarding civil interests, the civil parties, in this case the mother and the two sisters of the deceased, had claimed 500 million francs. But the Chamber has revised this downwards by allocating them the amount of 75 million CFA francs (50 million for the mother and 25 million CFA francs for the two sisters). The chamber rejected the group of drivers who had become a civil party in this case.

Facts

Ousseynou Diop had killed with a bullet in the head, the taximan Ibrahima Samb, following a banal argument. The facts took place in 2016 at a gas station in Yoff. During the hearings on July 21, Ousseynou Diop declared that he did not intend to kill the taximan.
