TRIBUNJOGJA.COM – The head of Eijkman LBM, Amin Soebandrio, said strain New (types) of Corona virus mutations identified in Malaysia and the Philippines could have entered Indonesia.

However, a new type of mutated virus called more infectious can only enter if an individual carries it.

“If we talk about the possibility, it could be that if someone from an infected area carries the virus, yes it could. This means that there is a possibility but again it has not been found so far (in Indonesia),” Amin said when confirmed by Kompas.com, Tuesday (18 / 8/2020).

According to Amin, from 16 types Corona virus in Indonesia that has been sent to the International Influenza Data Bank or Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID), there was no virus type similar to that found in Malaysia and the Philippines recently.

In other words, said Amin, the type G614 virus has only been found in a few places.

Amin also said, mutation Corona virus occurs randomly (random).

If a condition is favorable for the virus, it can survive and mutate.

Conversely, unfavorable conditions can kill the virus.

Then, from the whole Corona virus survivors, not all mutated from type D to type G.

“Of the survivors, not all mutations from D to G. In Indonesia, there are also several mutations but not so far,” said Amin.
