More than 23 years after the murder of Wilfried K. from Würselen, the crime is about to be investigated. A suspect is on remand.

The man is said to have murdered 43-year-old Wilfried K. from Würselen before the end of 1996. The suspect is in custody.
The identity of the deceased was only clarified after 23 years through information from the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY … unsolved”.
At the beginning of September, the investigators went public with their findings – with success.
The naked body of the man who had been murdered in many beatings was discovered on December 8, 1996 on the slope of a gravel pit near Rheurdt (Kleve district), more than 100 kilometers from the victim’s place of residence.
Investigators had stated that the murder victim was 43 years old, divorced and had a son and daughter. Since the man was in debt, the family assumed that he had left. He was never reported missing.

On Monday, the police announced that they had found a suspect who had been in custody since last week. Details are to be announced at a press conference on Wednesday.
