Municipality of The Hague: group of truckers does not want to leave ADO stadium | Inland

After the demonstration by Freedom Convoy Netherlands, the truckers moved to the stadium on Saturday and spent the night there. Initially they wanted to join a protest on the Malieveld on Sunday afternoon. The municipality allowed them to park their vehicles at the Boorlaan, next to the Malieveld, on which they could join the demonstration of the Netherlands in Resistance, also against the corona rules, on foot.

The truckers were not allowed to enter the city with their truck on their own, because the municipality considered the risk of new blockades too great. An emergency order is in effect for this. They are allowed to leave the site, a spokesperson emphasizes. “In the course of the morning, however, it turned out that the group of truckers cannot come to unambiguous agreements and does not want to leave the ADO site and has locked itself in.”

On social media, people are called to come to the ADO stadium to support the demonstrators there. Trapped by Van Zanen. On to #ADO”, reads a message on Twitter from Freedom Convoy Netherlands. “Participants are now allowed to leave the site, but only under police escort and a ban on going to Malieveld. Here the right to demonstrate is taken away. So the participants stay.”

The municipality had previously made agreements with drivers of vehicles involved in the announced demonstration on Sunday. They were allowed to enter the city.
