Ludwigvorstadt – A 22-year-old man, already known to the police, assaulted a police officer at the main train station on Friday morning (Dec. 30).
The police officer takes the assailant to the ground
The 28-year-old officer was in uniform on his way home from a graveyard shift. According to police, the 22-year-old spoke to him shortly after seven in the morning near the Arnulfstrasse exit. At the platform 25 stop, he suddenly hit him in the face with a glass bottle. The incident was captured on video cameras.
The police officer was injured in the attack, but immediately brought the attacker to the ground with the help of a DB employee. They held him until reinforcements arrived.
Since the 22-year-old, who was drunk with an alcohol content of 1.81, had already noticed it in recent days, he now risks arrest. The officer was taken to a hospital in pain to have his injuries assessed.
