MSP denies rumor about a 6-year-old boy who died after receiving a vaccine against Covid-19

“Due to the widespread rumor of the death of a 6-year-old boy as a result of having been given the vaccine against Covid-19, the Ministry of Public Health considers it appropriate to clarify that no death of any child of that age has been confirmed between Friday 14 and on Tuesday, January 18, nor has it received any complaint about any event with these or similar characteristics,” says the MSP statement.

“We reiterate the recommendation to administer the vaccine against Covid-19, of proven safety and efficacy, to children between 5 and 11 years old, as well as to adolescents, and the third in the rest of the population contemplated in the National Plan of vaccination against Covid-19 ”, adds the Ministry.

In Uruguay, the vaccination of children from 5 to 11 years old began on Wednesday, January 12. The Pfizer laboratory vaccine is supplied, which is a third of the dose that adults receive.

So far, more than 50% of children in this age group have signed up to receive this vaccine.

The government hopes to give the second dose to the children in February so that they are immunized before the start of classes, scheduled for March 7.
