MSI’s Upcoming QD-OLED Monitors: Release Dates, Specifications, and More

The first monitors using QD-OLED panels appeared on the market in 2022. At the beginning, we received ultra-wide screens with a diagonal of 34 inches and a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels. This year, Samsung (which is responsible for the production of QD-OLED) presented a new variant, this time with a diagonal of 49 inches and a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels. It seems that next year we will see the premiere of further QD-OLED variants, which will result in a greater variety of monitors.

MSI’s plans show that by mid-2024, the company will release as many as six monitors with QD-OLED screens.

At the earliest, around November this year, MSI plans to release the MAG 341CQP QD-OLED monitor with a 34-inch screen, 3440 x 1440 pixels resolution, 1800R curvature and a USB Type-C connector (15 W PD). The remaining five models are to be revealed in January, most likely during CES 2024 in Las Vegas. The first two models are: MSI MPG 321UPX and MSI MAG 321UPX. Both have a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. The names indicate that that these will be 31.5-inch screens. These will be the first monitors in which QD-OLED will be adjusted to a 16:9 aspect ratio. MSI MPG321UPX will receive a USB-C port with a charging power of up to 90 W, while MAG 321UPX will receive USB-C C with a power of 15 W. In both cases, these will be flat screens.

The next two monitors are MSI MPG 271QPX and MAG 271QPX. They will (most likely) offer 27-inch screens with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a 360 Hz refresh rate. Again, the first one will get a USB-C connector with a power of up to 90 W, and the second one with a power of up to 15 W. Monitors in this series will also have flat displays. Finally, there is the MSI MPG 491CQP model, where we will get a 49-inch QD-OLED screen with a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels, with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, 1800R curvature and a 90 W USB-C connector. Introducing QD-OLED panels to a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and 3840 x 2160, it may turn out that this technology will become even more popular next year.
