Motorist creates cyclist in flight from police | Inland

The driver of a gray Nissan Qashqai committed a traffic violation on Friday afternoon at the intersection Wilhelminasingel and Vierwindenstraat. Then a plainclothes officer, in an unobtrusive police car, decided to address the person. Instead of stopping, however, the man accelerated and took off.

At the next intersection, the policeman decided to stand next to the motorist, identified himself as a policeman and ordered the man to stop further on.

At first the driver seemed to comply, but suddenly he accelerated and took off. He drove at high speed through the red traffic light at the junction Claudius Prinsenlaan with De la Reijweg.

‘Deliberately drove a woman’

In a press release, the police wrote: ‘Even as cyclists approaching crossing the road, the driver did not brake and, apparently consciously, hit a woman full. It flew through the air and ended up on the road surface. ‘

After the collision, the driver continued driving. The officer chose to pass on the license plate of the fleeing car and to stop the chase to give help to the woman who was hit.

Suspect not yet found

The suspect has not been found to date. The vehicle turned out to be more common in the police systems.
