Long emergency route
It was at 14.53 the emergency services received a report of a traffic accident on RV55 on Sognefjellet. A motorcycle with two people had gone off the road. The accident happened at Hervadammen in Luster municipality, not too far from the county border with Innlandet, and Lom municipality.
– Due to the long emergency route, the police arrived at the scene approx. at 1559.
Resources from the police, fire service and ambulance service were sent to the scene.
Air ambulance arrived at the scene approx. at 15.10, and a doctor from there was able to report one person dead after a short time. The other person was injured, but conscious and alert. The person was taken to hospital by air ambulance, the police state in a press release from the West police district.
