Mother sentenced to 15 years in prison for defenesting her daughter’s classmate

A mother was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison by the Assize Court of Meurthe-et-Moselle for having defenestrated a classmate of her daughter, we learned from her lawyer.

The jurors have exceeded the requisition of the prosecution. On the last day of the trial, which began on Friday, Floriane Dussauge, deputy prosecutor, had demanded 12 years in prison against Samira Habri for attempted murder.

“The requisitions were particularly low given the nature of the alleged acts,” acknowledged defense lawyer Me Eléonore Dupleix. “My client, who disputed the facts and hoped for the acquittal, is obviously disappointed, but a sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment for an attempted murder is, in my opinion, a moderate sentence,” she said. to AFP.

The victim, aged 15 at the time of the events on November 9, 2016, suffered from several fractures following his defenestration and is in custody of the aftermath.

According to the young woman’s testimony, Samira Habri attracted her to her home, located on the fourth floor of a building in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle). She first tried to strangle her with a scarf in the kitchen. Managing to free herself, the teenager went to a window from which the mother of her fifties threw her into the void, going so far as to withdraw her fingers which clung to the woodwork of the window, a- she told.

Several witnesses saw this woman doing nothing to help the young girl, whose body was swinging in the void, then close the window after her fall from 11 meters.

The accused contested the facts throughout the trial, claiming that the teenager had fallen while trying to flee after an attempted robbery at her home.

Three days earlier, the victim had had an argument with the daughter of Samira Habri, 16 years old and placed in a home for a few months. The latter had telephoned her mother, with whom she had a fusional relationship, but interspersed with violence, to ask her to avenge her.

The teenager, whom child welfare described as “capricious” and “hyper powerful towards her mother”, was sentenced by the juvenile court to 30 months in prison, half of which was suspended, for ” death threats and offer to commit murder “. She is incarcerated in the women’s quarter of the Nancy-Maxéville prison center.
