Moselle. Agricultural team catches fire in Hagen

The sight of the smoke and the flames could have raised fears of the worst. This Friday afternoon, shortly after 5 p.m., a fire broke out on an agricultural team parked in the yard of a farmhouse in the town of Hagen.

Without it being possible, for the moment, to determine which of the two machines is really at the origin of the disaster, it seems that a tractor and the baler of straws which accompany it suddenly caught fire. Under the effect of the heat, the bursting of the tires would then have given the alert, the vehicle being temporarily unoccupied. The flames quickly grew in intensity, turning the machines into smoldering carcasses and spreading to where nearly 450 bales of straw were stored. In all, about forty of these bundles were completely or partly consumed.

The Hettange-Grande firefighters intervened with the reinforcement of the Guénange and Thionville barracks in order to contain the incident. The operations continued for long minutes. The fire extinguished, the firefighters set out to clear the burnt straw in order to avoid any resumption. No casualties were to be deplored and the nearby buildings were not impacted.

The gendarmes of the Hettange-Grande company were also on site to carry out the usual findings.
