Mortal Kombat is one of the most classic fighting game franchises in the gaming world. MK 11, which is its latest edition, arrived in March 2019 for PC (Windows) and the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles. Developed by NetherRealm Studios since 2011, when Warner Bros. acquired the image rights of the series, the game in its 11th edition tells a story that takes place two years after the events of Mortal Kombat X. The game is known for its explicit violence and the classic “Fatalities”, which are present in different types and in the most bloodthirsty forms possible. The Story mode is divided into 12 chapters and has three different endings (the Aftermath expansion has five additional chapters) with many passages at different points in the timeline between Mortal Kombat X and 11. After Raiden defeated Shinnok, the Elder God, at the end from MK X, his darkest form takes over and his new goal is to annihilate all his enemies on the Earth Plane before they attack him. Kronika, the Guardian of Time, however, is enraged by the imbalance that Raiden brought to the world in the events of MK X and decides to stop him, stating that the Arc of Time moves according to his will and that it will be done in question of time. There are three different endings for the Story mode.

The list of characters in Mortal Kombat 11 contains 37 characters, of which 25 characters are available in the basic version (two of them – Frost and Shao Kahn – are released after progressing in Story mode and are also available by micro transaction) and another 12 are available in the Kombate Pack expansions 1, 2 and Aftermath.

There are 32 characters belonging to the world of Mortal Kombat, among these classics, such as Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Cassie Cage and Noob Saibot, and new characters in the franchise such as Cetrion, Geras and Kollector. The other five are distinguished guests: Joker, Terminator, Spawn, Robocop and John Rambo. Kronika, one of the protagonists of MK 11, appears as Head of one of the chapters, but is not playable.

The big hallmark of the Mortal Kombat franchise is fatalities; specific moves for each character activated when the fight is about to be won – moment when the classic message “Finish Him!” (Finish it!) There are still different types of fatalities added to the MK 11. These are:

- Brutality: unlike Fatality, done when the opponent is no longer able to react, Brutality is activated when the opponent is low on life, but is not yet down. Classic of the franchise, there are many versions, Brutality is an even more aggressive and violent version of fatality and also more difficult to be executed, since they all have an imposed condition: not having lost any round; have not blocked any attacks during the round; among others. Each character has six brutalities and they are more difficult to activate; there is also a stage brutality in the arenas of the Special Forces of the Desert Command (Black Dragon Fight Club, Shaolin Trap Dungeon, Shinnok’s Bone Temple and Sea of Blood). - Stage Fatality (Fatality de Fase): phase fatality is activated in different ways for each character, but they are endings in which the character interacts with one of the MK 11 fighting arenas. Phase fatality is only available with the Aftermath expansion and can be used in three arenas: Dead Pool, Shaolin Trap Dungeon and Tournament. Check out the Stage Fatalites below:

- Friendship (Amizade): carrying a sadism similar to Babalities, fatalities present in MK X in which the winning character turns the loser into a baby, Friendship Fatality is a “friendly” version of fatality. The winner takes a harmless action, marking his victory more smoothly. All characters have a Friendship, and you can check each one below:

- Quitality: introduced in MK X, Quitality is the fatality version of Online mode and happens automatically when one of the players leaves the fight before the end. In addition to the additional chapters, the Aftermath expansion features new items such as 25 new skins. There are still two expansion packs: Kombate Pack 1 and 2, which bring more new items; the Ultimate version contains all the DLCs released to date, with more expansions being speculated by the MK community. The MK 11 has a free update for the new generation consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X | S).
