Morocco distributes food and medical aid

On High Instructions from HM King Mohammed VI, the distribution operation took place in the presence of the Moroccan Ambassador to Lebanon, M’hammed Grine, officials and representatives of Lebanese civil society.

This medical and humanitarian aid includes first aid medicines, foodstuffs (canned food, legumes, powdered milk, oil, sugar, flour, etc.), tents and blankets to house the victims. They also include medical equipment for the prevention of Covid-19, including protective masks, visors, gowns, and hydroalcoholic gel.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom in Beirut said that this medical and humanitarian aid aims to support the Lebanese people affected by the repercussions of the devastating explosion that shook the port of the Lebanese capital. An act expressing the solidarity of Morocco with the brotherly Lebanese people and relieving their pain following the tragic explosion.

This donation, which came in response to the distress appeal launched by Lebanon, was received by the Lebanese people with “a great welcome and appreciation” for the quantity and quality of Moroccan aid and its great impact. on the Lebanese, said Mr. Grine, noting that the distribution operation is going under good conditions.

HM King Mohammed VI had given His High Instructions for sending emergency medical and humanitarian aid to the Lebanese Republic after the explosion in the port of Beirut.
The Sovereign had also given His High Instructions for the deployment of a military field hospital to provide medical services to those injured in the explosion.

This field hospital is made up of 150 people, including 45 doctors from various specialties (resuscitators, surgeons, traumatologists, ENT, ophthalmologists, burn treatment, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, pharmacist), as well as specialist nurses and support elements.

The facility houses an operating theater, hospitalization, radiology and sterilization units, a laboratory, a pharmacy and sanitary, administrative and logistical facilities.

At least 171 people were killed and nearly 6,000 others were injured in the deadly explosion in the port of Beirut, while dozens more are missing.
