At 3 am a fire broke out at the “Single Room” hotel in Banqiao District, New Taipei City. Firefighters evacuated a total of 39 people to the 6th floor and 2 men were sent to hospital in a coma. New Taipei City Government Firefighters said the fire occurred in the mattress in room 520 on the 4th floor and the cause of the fire has yet to be investigated.
New Taipei City Firefighters received a report this morning that black smoke rose from the “single room” hotel near Mingde Street in the Banqiao District at around 3:30 am. After the firefighters evacuated the tenants, they saved 3 people from the fire, including 2. One man was in a coma and was rushed to Banqiao Yadong hospital; the other 23-year-old woman was conscious and sent to the Taipei hospital for preventive measures. The fire was completely extinguished at 4:16 am.
Firefighters said the 6-story “single room” hostel just passed fire inspection on the 5th. The fire alarm transmission equipment and internal fire hydrants in the building can be used normally. The service personnel also remembers the previous fire drill. Witness the evacuation of tenants for the first time, greatly reducing the disaster situation, and provide the building plan and passenger accommodation listing to the fire brigade to help count and confirm the escape of all tenants.
Upon receiving the notification, New Taipei Mayor Hou Youyi also went to the scene to understand the fire situation and asked the Banqiao District Office to help relocate the tenants.
