Morikawa makes history by beating The Concession

Winner of the first World Golf Championship of the season, Collin Morikawa made his sporting history by becoming the first player to win a major tournament (USPGA 2020) and a WGC before the age of 25. Better than his compatriot Tiger Woods, to whom he paid tribute by receiving the trophy. A feat achieved when the American has only played 38 PGA tour tournaments in his young career.

On The Concession course in Bradenton (Florida), Morikawa (-18) returned a final card of 69 (-3). He won with three strokes ahead of the Norwegian Viktor Hovland (-15), author of the best score on Sunday (67), who finished tied for second with the Americans Brooks Koepka (-15) and Billy Horschel (-15).

Several members of the PGA Tour played the course on Sunday imitating Tiger Woods’ wardrobe – a red shirt and black pants – to honor their idol, who was seriously injured in a car crash on Tuesday. Tony Finau, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Justin Thomas and Patrick Reed were among the players who paid him the tribute.

WGC Workday Championship final standings after the 4th and final round (par 72):

1. Collin Morikawa (USA) -18 (70-64-67-69)

2. Viktor Hovland (NOR) -15 (71-69-66-67)
