More than one in four Storting politicians does not stand for re-election – VG

Trine Skei Grande and Trond Giske are among 45 of 169 representatives in the Storting who have refused a new term in the Storting.

Among the 45 who do not want re-election, 18 are women and 27 men. It shows an overview that NTB has prepared.

KrF has the highest proportion who will not take another four years in the Storting.

Half of the party’s representatives do not stand for re-election.

Among them are former KrF leader Knut Arild Hareide and chairman of the health and care committee Geir Jørgen Bekkevold.

Notch in the heel follows the Liberal Party, where three out of eight representatives are not on this year’s election lists, including former party leader Trine Skei Grande and former deputy leader Terje Breivik.

According to opinion polls, both the Liberal Party and KrF are likely to fall below the threshold, which in this case will mean a cut in the number of representatives in the Storting from the current eight to two.

One in three from the Labor Party

The Labor Party also replaces many. 17 of the current 49 representatives (34 per cent) are not listed on this year’s electoral lists.

The same applies to ten of the Conservative Party’s 45 representatives (22 per cent).

Well-known Labor names that will disappear from the Storting this autumn are Dag Terje Andersen, Jette Christensen, Arild Grande and not least Trond Giske.

In 2018, Giske left back on the political scene again, after metoo alerts. Now he is saying no to a new term in the Storting.

The current ministers Frank Bakke-Jensen and Bent Høie are leaving the Conservative Party. Also former Storting President Olemic Thommessen and Kristian Tonning Riise, who resigned as Young Conservative leader in 2018 as a result of several metoo cases, thank you.

Only two from Sp

Of the Center Party’s 17 representatives, however, only one has stated that she does not want to continue: Former party leader Liv Signe Navarsete.

Of the Progress Party’s 26 representatives, five have said no to re-election, among them Jon Georg Dale, Solveig Horne, Kari Kjønaas Kjos and Kjell-Børge Freiberg.

The hinterland and Møre og Romsdal are likely to be the counties that replace the most representatives.

According to a note from the think tank Civita, it could go against a record in terms of the proportion of women in the Storting – well note if the election result this autumn is in line with the average polls for June.
