More than 81 thousand schoolchildren benefit from free and permanent internet access

At no cost and permanently, more than 81 thousand students from state schools in 22 regions of Peru benefit from access to internet 100% of optical fiberwhich has facilitated greater communication between teachers, students and parents, who currently use online tools, such as email, virtual learning platforms and discussion groups.

This initiative, promoted by the telecommunications company WOWseeks to promote change in the peruvian education having reached schools that need it most at the national level.

Access to internet began in 2021 with the delivery of internet free and permanent to the first school, IE 54104 Cristo Rey in Andahuaylas. After 2 years of launching the project, More than 81 thousand students from 81 schools benefit from this service that contributes to the improvement of its educational quality.

“Schoolchildren can conduct more complete and in-depth research using online resources. “We teachers can develop collaborative projects and access online courses, webinars and resources to improve our teaching methods and professional development.”said Professor Lirio Cruzado Llamos from IEN 66 in Chepén.

Regions that already enjoy internet free and lifetime son Apurímac, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Tacna, Lambayeque, Tumbes, Piura, La Libertad, Ica, Ancash, Lima, Arequipa, Moquegua, Cajamarca, Loreto, San Martin, Ucayali, Amazonas, Junin, Huanuco, Pasco and Puno.

By extending the connection optical fiber to communities that have not experienced much coverage, it is expected to reduce the digital divide, allowing the population not only to access education, work and medical services remotely, but also to promote the regional economy.
