More than 300 new cases of coronavirus were added to the Czech Republic on Sunday

Prague – 305 new cases of coronavirus were added to the Czech Republic on Sunday. For the fourth time since the beginning of the epidemic, the daily increase was higher than 300, the last time it happened on April 3. The proportion of detected cases in the total number of tests was 16.83 percent, which is the highest since the beginning of the epidemic. The reason for the significant increase in recent days is mainly that it is being tested specifically in current outbreaks, especially in the Karviná region and in the mining company OKD. There were also fewer tests than in all days, laboratories performed them in 1812. It follows from data Ministry of Health to today’s 09:00.

So far, a total of 11,604 people have been infected with coronavirus in the Czech Republic, 7710 have been cured, and 348 victims are killed. There are currently 3,546 infected in the country.

The daily increase in new cases has been accelerating recently. On Thursday, 93 more were infected, 168 on Friday and 260 on Saturday. The increase in the share of detected cases in the number of tests is even more significant. It was 3.81 percent on Friday, 10.33 percent on Saturday and almost 17 percent on Sunday. The average for the last seven days is 5.75 percent.

According to the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES), this is not the second wave of the epidemic. “We are directing all the forces of hygienists to the Moravian-Silesian region, especially to the Karviná region. The latest jump in positive cases is again related to this local outbreak.

Therefore, the planned nationwide dismantling of the adopted measures from 1 July will not concern Karviná. On the contrary, the state will tighten measures in the Karviná and Frýdek-Místek regions from Tuesday. For example, it will ban visits to hospitals and social facilities or limit participation in mass events from 500 to a maximum of 100 people.

According to the Ministry, the highest share of newly confirmed cases of infection per capita is currently in the Karviná district. There are more than 183 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days. In the neighboring district of Frýdek-Místek, where the second highest incidence is, there are about 32 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The Moravian-Silesian Region is also the most affected region in the Czech Republic since the beginning of the epidemic. In recent days, he has overtaken Prague. So far, the local laboratories have detected 2,650 infections, and there have been 2505 in the capital so far. There are almost 221 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the Moravian-Silesian Region, and 189 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in Prague.

The death toll remains high in the capital, where 104 people have died so far with covid-19. The Moravian-Silesian Region reports 69 deaths, the Karlovy Vary Region 38. In six regions, the number of victims is less than ten.

For most people, the disease is mild. 123 patients are currently hospitalized with coronavirus, 29 of whom have a severe course.
