More than 2,000 people from Burgas have entered the register of gambling-vulnerable persons – 2024-03-28 15:56:58

306 residents of Burgas and the district have applied for entry in the register of vulnerable persons in less than three months – from the beginning of the year until now. Since the relaunch of the register in 2022, more than 2,000 individuals from the region have requested to restrict their access to gambling.

On a national scale, nearly 2,000 citizens submitted an application for entry into the register of vulnerable persons in the month of March alone.

More than 8,100 have expressed their wish to limit their access to gambling since the start of the year, and since the resumption of the register in 2022, almost 36,000 people have been registered.

After a two-year hiatus regulated by legislative changes, on December 12, 2022, the NRA resumed maintaining the list of people who believe they have or may develop a gambling addiction. The register is not public, the revenue agency reminds.

Only a limited number of employees, designated by the executive director of the NRA, have access to it.

The organizers of gambling games are obliged not to admit persons entered in the register. In order to comply with this requirement, they must request a link to it through the electronic service “Providing a reference for vulnerable persons from the register under Art. 10d, para. 1 of the Gambling Act’.

In order to facilitate business, the NRA has implemented an e-service that enables inquiries to be made through direct access to the register. Through it, gambling operators can exchange information directly and automatically with the revenue agency.

This is made possible with a software key (API key), which establishes a “system-to-system” connection between the software of the business and the NRA.

If a person entered in the register is allowed to gamble, it is necessary to report it to the Information Center of the Revenue Agency by phone:

0700 18 700 and +359 2 9859 6801 or by email: [email protected] for immediate verification.

Anyone who feels that they cannot control the time spent gambling and the funds they spend participating in them can submit a Request to be entered on the register. The document can be submitted on-site at a NRA office or sent by email: [email protected], in which case it must be signed by the KEP.

In the request, it is possible to specify a specific period for which the entry is to be made, and it cannot be shorter than two years.

You can get more information about the options for entry or deletion from the register in the “Responsible Gambling” section on the revenue agency’s website, in the podcast episode dedicated to the topic, on the NRA’s YouTube channel, or from the Information Center. In the “Responsible Gambling” section, tips for responsible gambling are published, as well as a self-assessment test of players’ gambling habits.
