More than 20 new cases of Covid-19 infection in Estonia and Lithuania / Article / LSM.lv

On Thursday, September 3, 26 cases of Covid-19 infection were confirmed in Estonia, but in Lithuania coronavirus was detected in 20 people.

The situation was similar in previous days, and fears about the second wave of the pandemic are not justified yet, experts say.

The Estonian Department of Health reported that in eight cases, Covid-19 was obtained through contact with infected people, but that other sources of the virus have not yet been identified. A total of 2441 cases of infection have been confirmed in the country, and the coronavirus has claimed 64 lives.

Meanwhile, in Lithuania, 10 cases are related to specific foci of the disease, in 6 cases the virus was obtained from infected people, and 2 persons were infected abroad.

According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, the infection rate, measured in 14 days per 100 000 population, was 16.53 in Lithuania and 15.7 in Estonia.

In Latvia, the situation is significantly better and this indicator is only 4.17.
