GENEROSITY. The Memphremagog Hospital Foundation has found a way to spread happiness among healthcare personnel, while collecting donations, while its “Twice closer” campaign has distributed more than 1,000 greeting cards and raise $90,000.
The principle was simple. In addition to donating money for a good cause, donors were invited to show their gratitude to health care workers by sending a greeting card. In addition, the Caisse Desjardins du Lac-Memphrémagog had undertaken to match all donations received, up to a maximum of $40,000.
In the end, exactly 1147 cards were sent to their recipient. “It was our way of celebrating two milestone years of hard work and sacrifice for all hospital staff. These altruistic people protect and care for our loved ones on a daily basis; they are admirable”, underlines the president of the Foundation, Alan Kezber.
With this amount, the Foundation will make another gesture for hospital employees by purchasing a RecharjMe rest cabin. This relaxation area offers several possibilities such as meditation, energizing siesta, vibrating massage, light therapy, aromatherapy and thermotherapy.
Investments are also planned to optimize certain equipment dedicated to the operating room, including a new sterilization tool that allows greater productivity. In the outpatient clinic, there are also plans to add a second ENT room and equipment for carpal tunnel surgery. “I am touched by noting how our community is, once again, supportive and benevolent, shares the general manager of the Caisse Desjardins du Lac-Memphrémagog, Patrick Gravel. Knowing how difficult the context is, it is impossible to remain indifferent to the dedication of the hospital workers who are at the heart of this crisis.
