COVID-19 Health Alert Board Update for Guatemalan Municipalities

Guatemala City, April 29. (AGN).- The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) updated the COVID-19 Health Alert Board for the next 14 days.

In this, 56 municipalities are established in orange alert and 284 in yellow alert, and zero municipalities in green and red.

This Health Alert System is an instrument that allows the incidence of the disease to be measured every 15 days. In addition, it defines the level of risk by locality classified in red, orange, yellow and green colors.

The update

It is important to indicate that the board evaluates criteria to determine the alert color of each of the 340 municipalities in the country. The localities are classified according to the score received as follows:

  • incidence of confirmed cases of COVID-19 per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days
  • cumulative percentage of vaccination schedule 2 doses in over 12 years
  • percentage of positive SARS-CoV-2 tests in the last two weeks
  • average number of tests per thousand inhabitants per day

recommendations

Likewise, the Health authorities once again call on the Guatemalan population to continue with prevention measures, such as:

  • washing hands with soap and water
  • physical distancing
  • the use of the mask

These preventive measures are highly important to avoid an increase in COVID-19 infections.

The Health portfolio makes available for any query here the health alert color that corresponds to your municipality, in the link https://covid19.gob.gt/semaforo.html.

Likewise, it invites you to complete the vaccination schedule to prevent the symptoms of the disease from being serious. The service is free and is available in health centers. Community mobile days are also being carried out.
