Genoa – Is there a Liguria case? While the second wave of the epidemic hits Italy, some numbers on the spread of the virus seem to allude to a more alarming situation than elsewhere and cause more than one concern. Out of all, the percentage of positives on the people tested. On Monday, this indicator reached 25.4%, meaning one in four test subjects tested positive for coronavirus (we are talking about new diagnoses, so-called control swabs are excluded).
Only the Valle d’Aosta came close with 21.3%, all the other regions remained below the 15% threshold. But the figures for a day, as we know, must be taken with a grain of salt and if you look at the last seven days, the figure drops to 14.2%, which sounds much less worrying even if it remains the second highest value of the period.
Another figure that arouses concern concerns the new positives recorded in relation to the inhabitants. From 7 to 13 October in Liguria, according to data collected by the Civil Protection, there were 113.2 per 100 thousand inhabitants. Worse, once again, only Valle d’Aosta did with 141.6, all the others behind. Evidently, not a good trend. It should be noted, however, that at the top of this unenviable ranking (Umbria is in third position) there are regions with a limited number of inhabitants. And this exposes them to a higher risk of fluctuation: a few more cases in a certain period of time are enough to make the indicator soar.
