The vaccination obligation will apply to all Austrians from the age of 18. From mid-March, checks will be carried out and penalties will also be imposed. Anyone who continues to refuse the vaccine can be fined up to 3,600 euros. The government emphasizes that prison terms are not foreseen.
Earlier, the chancellor announced that the jab would be mandatory for everyone over the age of fourteen, but the age limit was adjusted.
There is an exception to the law for pregnant women and for people who are not allowed to be vaccinated for medical reasons.
