Can’t eat
Nearly 11 million people are now in arrears with their bills, while more than 5 million people are not eating in order to pay their household bills, one of which is their electricity bill.
This is according to new research which reveals that 5.6 million Brits have skipped meals just to pay their electricity bills in the past three months due to the crisis. This includes skipping meals, eating once a day, or not eating at all on some days.

Electricity bill rising
According to a report by the Money Advice Trust, an estimated 20% of UK adults, or 10.9 million people, are now in arrears on one or more family bills, up 3 million since March.
Electricity bills in the UK have risen rapidly since the start of this year. According to the report, 20% of adults in the UK said their electricity bills have increased by $ 113 or more per month since last April.
The report states that around 14% of the UK population, or nearly 8 million people, say they have sold personal or household items to pay their bills. Two out of five people even cut all non-essential expenses. The survey was conducted on 2,000 British adults in August.
