Safe living in Montpellier of recent creation is an apolitical association, warn the founders, Sandra, Catherine and Patricia, three mothers who have been confronted with delinquency.
They were received at the beginning of the week at the Hôtel de Région in Montpellier by a member of the president’s cabinet, Carole Delga. “We spoke with the Region on the subject of security. Our aim is to determine whether this community is competent or not on important points, such as unaccompanied minors (unaccompanied minors), squats and migrants. It appears that the Regional Council of Occitanie has no competence on these points, the management of unaccompanied minors being the responsibility of the Department of Hérault, as we know, moreover, through the press ”, indicate Sarah, Catherine and Patricia.
Experience in the Gard
They learned that, “the Region, on the other hand, offers training for the integration of migrants and has a budget for security in the field of video surveillance outside high schools and inside transport”.
They reveal that, “in the discussion, we mentioned the operational partnership groups and the neighborhood relay implemented in the Gard, in particular via the departmental direction of public security -DDSP 30- in Gard. This experience seems very interesting to us and we are going to approach the DDSP 30 for an evaluation, in order to optimize it in Montpellier. Our association has become attached to the DDSP 34 on this subject. We received a refusal in a letter from Comptroller General Yannick Blouin, Director of the DDSP 34 ”.
Appointments requested
The managers of the Vivre en sécurité à Montpellier association are continuing their efforts by approaching communities and local authorities. They have thus requested appointments with the prefect, the president of the Department and the mayor of Montpellier, without return for the time being.
